Gaelic Arts Conference

announced for 8th and 9th May 2007, in An Lanntair, Stornoway. This major conference, hosted by GASD, will lead the way forward for the Gaelic Arts and showcase the best of what's going on right now.

For the first time in ten years a two day national conference providing a unique opportunity for Gaelic arts practitioners, administrators, and promoters to come together to talk, listen and network. The event will offer a range of stimulating and inspiring speakers from Scotland and beyond as well as various breakout groups on subjects you’ve told us you’re interested in including: funding, audience development, training and promotion as well as the role and function of new media. There will also be an opportunity to influence a Gaelic cultural framework to engage with the National Plan and Creative Scotland.

The programme also includes a unique showcasing of several wonderful examples of Gaelic arts development. These will feature in the conference programme and in the conference Ceilidh being held on Tuesday evening in the fabulous setting of the new An Lanntair theatre. A selection of artworks resulting from GASD residencies will be on display throughout the gallery.
