Ceangal - Connection

25 October 2006

A creative gathering for people living and working in ‘minority’ and bilingual cultures.

Celtic Neighbours is a recent partnership between Ealaín na Gaeltachta, Proiseact Nan Ealan in Scotland and Theatr Felinfach in Wales. Led by Voluntary Arts Wales and supported by the Carnegie Rural Commission, it aims to bring together arts and cultural organisations from the Gaeltacht, Gaelic-speaking areas of Scotland and Welsh-speaking communities in Wales.

This Donegal Gathering – ‘Ceangal’ – will showcase examples of some of the most exciting arts and cultural activity taking place in the Gaelic world – both Ireland and Scotland – and in Welsh-speaking communities in Wales. Its primary purpose is the sharing of skills, good practice and creative ideas amongst cultural groups from the three regions, through performance and discussion with particular emphasis on work taking place in the indigenous languages.

This conference will be of interest to artists, community groups, funders & policy makers.

Óstán an Chúirt, Gaoth Dobhair, Co. Dhún na nGall, Éire.

23rd – 25th November 2006
