Tickets for the eagerly anticipated Scottish production of St Kilda - A European Opera went on sale to the general public last Friday 11th May.
Taking place at Stornoway's Studio Alba on June 22 and 23, the Scottish production is one of 5 that will be performed simultaneously across Europe in Austria, Belgium, France and Germany. There will also be a preview performance on Thursday night.
This ambitious project spearheaded by the Gaelic Arts Agency, Proiseact nan Ealan will use satellite technology and live artistic performances to celebrate the history and lives of the people who lived on St Kilda.
Live performances in each venue will be set against a backdrop of a vertigo-inducing film of the French vertical dance company Retouramont performing a dramatic aerial ballet suspended from the Hebridean cliffs.
With contemporary music composed by Jean-Paul Dessy and David Graham, traditional Gaelic singers in each venue, script and libretto written by Iain Finlay Macleod, dramaturgy by Thierry Poquet, film contributions from Gilles Combet and Nadege de Peganow and creative direction by Lew Bogdan and Malcolm Maclean, 'St Kilda' - or 'Mac-Talla Nan Eun', to give it its Gaelic title - it is a genuinely international experience.
The Scottish version promises to be a truly unique experience, with celebrated Scottish director Gerry Mulgrew at the helm. He's working with a a company of 25 performers and a production team including Andy Thorburn as Musical Director and Gordon Davidson in charge of designing this promenading production.
There has been huge demand already for tickets, and our numbers are extremely limited - if you do want to buy tickets for this unique production we urge you to do so as soon as possible. You can purcase tickets at www.thebooth.co.uk.
